aunty and uncle,
i want you to know what a fabulous son you’ve raised… he is intelligent, a perfectionist, committed to his work, focussed, sensible and yet sensitive towards all around him… and he may have been impulsive sometimes in life, or made some decisions that he may have regretted later… but i guess we all do that… and while life looks turbulent for him now, i know and you know that he will come out of it…
i dont know if he would ever say it, but i know he owes it to you to have made him what he is.. some of his decisions have taken a lot of courage.. and may seem very unreasonable by many social standards, yet they are his decisions.. and he would own them… it takes amazing parents to raise a child to have the courage to be honest to himself… a child who does not succumb to the pressures of life to accept mediocrity, to live a mundane and meaningless life, the way most other people in his position would have chosen to do…
talking to him, often as i do, i wonder what is harder… living a life that is tough as it is.. or to have parents who are so caring that you know what you are doing maybe hurting them.. putting them in a tough spot… on the other hand, i dont know what is harder.. having a son who is going through a tough time in life or having to cover up for him to the world…
i dont have any answers.. i only know, that i’m proud to know him..and wish i was half like him… you must be so proud!!
