This is supposed to be a second part of a series but after the first chapter, I forgot that I haven’t read the first part. The plot revolves around a young man who embarks on an adventure along with his Guru- Karna. The reference to mythology is inbuilt in the name and plot of the book but it does not rely on mythological text. It is more contemporary fiction that is a continuation of what mythology tells us. I do feel that you would enjoy the book more if you are familiar with the mythology. I am greatly appreciative of the amount of geographical research that the writer would have undertaken for writing this book. Although I am not familiar with the terrain covered, most places are described quite vividly.
I think the book is most apt for children and adolescents. It is not very long but it is not very gripping. Considering that this is an adventure based book, it was not a very quick read. I am ambivalent towards it. It is not something that I recommend as a must read but I also do not regret picking it up. If you are in awe of Karna, and hero worship him, you would do well to read it.
