The book is a collection of short stories that revolve around young adult concerns of love, career and friendship. The stories are set in tier two and tier three settings of India. The language is simple and suits the characters that form the mainstay of the book. While each story presents a new set of characters, it could very well have been only one or two characters. All adolescents and young adults would find something to relate to in the book. There is nothing profoundly new in the book, in the plot or the language, but to give him credit, Joshi makes no claim to do so. His ability to carry through a story is evident but the proof reading in the kindle edition leaves much to desire.
At some places, the stories convey very strong opinions about social issues. I disagree with the point conveyed. If the stories are supposed to be a reflection of what the author thinks, then I disagree with him. It is a bit sad that educated people continue to harbour such feelings and thoughts in this day and age.
I have increasingly started to believe that self publishing is not a good idea. Authors get limited editorial input and the reader’s experience is greatly diminished.
