A Wasted Hour is part of a series of short stories to be published. A quick read, the short story is about a young woman who aspires to be a writer and finds stories in the people she meets while hitchhiking to and from the university. A simple and interesting tale, the story makes you want to believe in the unbelievable power of the everyday. There is hardly a twist in the tale. But then Archer’s stories have rarely had layers of complexities. Nevertheless, if you are looking for a quick read, you can manage this one in less than fifteen minutes. In addition, it is available for free on amazon currently.
When the story is as simple as this, and you get to see so many people reading and writing about it, you start to wonder, what makes someone like Archer a best selling author. I still haven’t understood that. But I discovered that his life is more colourful than the books he writes. He seems to be able to convince people and fool them quite a bit. His biography, even when read only on wiki, is quite a tale.
