“I hate the stars because I look at the same ones as you do, without you.”
‘love grows over the distance’.. or so i have often heard… i’ve grown up believing this to be the favourite quote of the insensible.. people living in a fool’s paradise.. wanting to convince themselves of things that have no logic or basis… i feel, that when people are too far away, you tend to get distant… it’s not a case of out of sight is out of mind.. but when you can’t share your everyday life with each other, the small intricacies of sharing a single cup of tea or the last sandwich, smiling at the same song, discussing last night’s tv show, sitting quietly in each other’s comfort after a long day, or chit chatting till the wee hours of morning about the insignificant things in life… it is just not the same… and over a period of days, weeks and months, the bond weakens.. coz the most important things are shared.. but the unimportant and insignificant do not get vocalised and the distance becomes real distance…
lately however, thanks to technology and 24×7 lifestyles, i have come to realise, that maybe, distances don’t matter as much as i thought.. ofcourse, there is the comfort of shared physical space that makes it much easier to be closer… yet, i can think of many i am not so close to because i know i can meet them anytime… and the everyday insignificance does not need to be vocalised to them coz i’ll be meeting them soon anyway… the ones at a distance, on the other hand, seem to be there, but yet just out of reach…
does distance, then, make the heart grow fonder? may be. but ya, i do hate the stars, that you and i see, without really you and me…
