The second book in the Narnia series, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is a beautiful tale of four children who venture into the enchanting world of Narnia. The adventures that follow in meeting Aslan, defeating the evil witch, and becoming the Kingss and Queens of Narnia have all the right mix of a wonderful children’s tale. At places, it may be a little too detailed and children below the age of ten may lose interest. Nevertheless, these are portions that can be skipped without affecting the story. And somewhere, there may be an abridged version for children but I would not recommend children to read that. What I would recommend is for parents to read out this book to their children, or better still encourage children to read it out to you.
The Harper Collins edition that could also do with a bolder print and a few more illustrations. Even though I am reading it two decades too late, I am quite aware that I am reading a children’s book that should not strain the eyes and could do well with more illustrations.
Every Book has a Story
This was meant to originally be in the books to read list this year in a pact with Kirti. While I ended up reading the first book as Lewis would have wanted, this one also makes the mark within this year.
