How to Kill Your Husband is a witty tale of three friends in their forties and their (extra) marital escapades. If fiction is a representative of real life, it would seem that the whole world is having extra marital affairs. I give Lette credit for being witty and clever. There is an attempt to bring twists and tales. In terms of literary value, the book doesn’t have much to contribute. it can be a good break from the mundane. You can derive solace from the author’s attempt at making light of the stress experienced in the mundane everyday. Teachers would relate to the story as the protagonist is a teacher and echoes the sentiments of primary teachers across the world. Mid-life concerns and struggles of men and women have been discussed and well, Lette does bring a smile to your face. Having said that, I am quite sure I am not picking up chick lit for some time. This is just not what motivates me to read.
Every Book Has a Story
I first picked up this book at a pop up book store in a mall. I thought it would be a good gift for my friend’s wedding. But I thought her husband to be did not have the sense of humour to tolerate such gifts. A few years later I thought I would gift it to another friend on her wedding. And, sadly, I couldn’t find it then. Years later, I finally found it at the book fair this year. Thanks to Alprata Ahuja for helping me locate it.
