Name: Foucault for Beginners
Author: Lydia Alix Fillingham
Time Taken: 2 metro rides
I have never read Foucualt before. I don’t know if I ever will again. But like all “for beginners” book, this one is interesting and very readable. The supplementary sketches add to the interseting view point Foucault has presented to life. I have unfortunately forgotten the name of the artist. Sorry. He did deserve a mention. Well, Foucault’s viewpoint on madness, alternative ways of understanding abnormality, freedom and cultural influence on our belief system is quite interesting and thought provoking. Fillingham has managed to simplify it without it losing it’s inherent depth. A thing, I don’t think I can manage to do here.
Favourite Quote: None… but did you know Foucault was gay???
