About the Book:
Ravinder Singh’s book is a sequel to his first book ‘I too had a love story…’, which I straight away admit, I haven’t read. This book is as much a promotion of his first book as it is of himself- how popular he is and how his book has made other characters in the book equally popular.
The plot revolves around cliched love stories which have probably been written a million times. A strong, passionate love affair ends tragically in the first book. His rebound relationship in the second book describes his second love affair, which ends somewhat less tragically. There is a strong possibility that it would have resurfaced in his other books, which, I admit again, I haven’t read so far.
I give full credit to the author to know all the masala that is required to reach the youth. The theme of a love affair, a modern day romance that includes emotional and physical intimacy, class divides, independence of living away from home, strong friendship bonds, foreign lands, etc all feed into the college goers dreams and fantasies. The appeal of the book is enhanced by the repeated reference to it being autobiographical.
Besides this, the book has little to offer. It was extremely disappointing to see Hinglish, SMS language and conversational, grammatically incorrect English in what is considered ‘reading literature’!
