About the Book:
Aadhe Adhure is a play about an Indian family, struggling to make ends meet. The family comrpises of the mother, the only earning member, the father, who has had a tumultous career, and three children. The eldest daughter has recently eloped with a family friend. The dialogue, between the parents in the beginning of the play, seems to hint at her unhappy marriage. What begins with a description of what is an ordinary day in the family, goes on to uncover a complex interplay of emotions, and a struggle for a personal identity in relationships. With each scene, the complexity increases and sheds light on new dimensions of relationships. A play such as this can have no ending. Or, the end is what you imagine it to be.
Final Analysis: The relationships, dialogues, objects seem to be real and surreal at the same time. Beautifully written. Must read.
