“Why, darling? How could you have been so greedy? You killed me just to get all my property. Moreover, you made it look like a car crash.”
There was a storm brewing outside and I was all alone at home. Suddenly the lights went out…
I decided to light a candle. The candle lit one half of the room nice and bright. I screamed in horror when I saw my mother. She had died in a car crash years ago! At least that’s what everybody thought it was!
I jumped in fright when I heard her actually speaking to me!
The lights came back and she disappeared. I knew this couldn’t have been real. I blew off the candle and my mother disappeared. I grabbed my coat, even though it was raining heavily. I went to see my best friend who happened to be a psychiatrist. She was surprised to hear the whole story. She diagnosed me of schizophrenia and Cotard’s syndrome.
I stood up and decided to leave because I couldn’t believe it. I was diagnosed of two mental disorders in one night. While leaving, I saw my mother again. This time she asked me to confess to what I had done. A jolt of guilt hit my throat! I had lived with a lie for years but not anymore. I confessed to everything I had done to her, but now I have to rot in prison.
Even now, every night I see my mother, and she asks me “Why?”
