lately i have come to realise something that i knew all my life… i have been born with a silver spoon in my mouth… having said that.. let me elaborate upon why the title sounds so morose…
you see, i have also realised that the world sees me like that… born with a silver spoon… and i am not denying it… infact i just acknowledged it on web… for the whole world to see… no i am not a rich kid… i belong to a middle class family… my dad was in the air force… mum has been working for most of her life.. sis is working… we are not flushed with money but there has never been a thing that i wanted in life and i didn’t have it… ok ok.. my wants are also rather limited… but i do have a clean bed, fresh clothes and yummy mum cooked food everyday… and have to do very little thanks to mum, domestic help, and a few appliances….
so what is the cribbing about? the cribbing is for all the people who think that people like me don’t ever face struggle in life… all jeans clad, english speaking, car driving women are elitists who don’t know a thing about the world and live in their own safe cocoon… well, i just want to say that that is the most ignorant thing to think of anyone…
yeah i’ve never lived in a village… and i don’t know how it is to face bias for being a girl… but that’s not coz i am ignorant, it is coz my world is different from yours… women have always been treated with respect and dignity in my world.. and i suck at hindi coz i never had to speak it at home or at school… if you can’t understand that, well you’re just happy being ignorant, aren’t you?
alright, this blog was not meant to be about me… i was writing this coz i came across this guy that i have grown very fond of in the past few months.. (actually weeks… ) well i don’t know much about him.. i don’t know if he has a rags to riches story… but he’s rich now.. by most standards.. travels around the world… back and forth across the country atleast twice a week… yeah he’s probably living in the best of hotels.. doesn’t have to give a damn about spending money… but he hasn’t seen his parents since over a year… and he has little time to talk to friends… and is sick of eating hotel food… and probably sick of travelling, though he has never said so to me… and the last two times when i met him… (ok i admit, i have only met him twice…) the first time, he looked so tired i wanted to pamper him like his mum… and the second time, he looked like he had lost oodles of weight… which again made me want to act his mum… he would hate me for this.. coz he is an independent guy.. knows how to take care of himself… and no one recognises his struggle… this is who he is supposed to be… to half the world his life is a dream.. he’s rich, gets to travel a lot… stays in the finest hotels, eats the finest meals.. wow, what a life.. what did you say? he has a choice? really? he does? i don’t know how many of us do… we were always raised to be like this.. if we don’t become like this, we’re essentially failures… who were again pampered too much to become anything in life…
so did you say we have a choice not to struggle?
