In this book, Brian Tracy talks about techniques that have helped him increase his productivity and efficiency. The techniques are not unique to him and if you are someone who has searched on beating procrastination and improving efficiency, then you are likely to be familiar with most of the techniques. However, it is a good place to find a summary of all the techniques. It is also interspersed with practical tips on implementing these techniques in your everyday life.
The best thing about this book is that although it mentions increasing your work hours several times through the chapters, it also repeatedly emphasises the need to prioritise your family and personal time over work. This I think is an important reminder that people tend to forget in the pursuit of success.
Some of the other ideas suggested are important reminders for people who are perfectionists and have trouble letting go of work. Most people believe that they can do their work in the best way and find it difficult to assign it to others even if there are other people are hired to do the task. This also increases the workload of individuals and in turn causes greater stress and tension. The central argument that resonated well with me through the book is that the author emphasises the need to focus on your capability and potential. If you are a creative individual then doing mundane tasks is a waste of time. This is a good lesson to keep in mind. Most of the time, the routine tasks are so boring and debilitating that the energy and motivation to be your creative best gets lost. This is something important.
