The book is a collection of short stories by Dube. Part experiential, part fictional, each story presents a perspective on a social issue within the system in which it exists, functions, and is perpetuated.
The narrative is rooted in the everyday and while it is exaggerated at places, if you live in India, you can’t help but relate to it. Power, hierarchies, materialism, and the struggle for survival are recurrent themes. The stories bring a smile to your face. It states the ironies in the routine and obvious. It is light hearted but the strong voice expressing dissent and struggle against the system cannot be missed.
It is one of the few satirical books that I have enjoyed and will probably return to.
