Charlotte’s Web is a story of a young girl who sets out to save a pig that her father thinks is too unfit to survive. Raising the pig with love and compassion helps the pig to survive and eventually live in a barn. Wilbur, the pig, finds some new friends in the barn, particularly in Charlotte, the spider. This is one of the few tales that looks at spiders as beautiful. A tale full of compassion, unconditional love, friendship and support, Charlotte’s Web is a children’s book that every adult also must read. The narrative highlights the beauty of quiet observation, the spirit of helping each other and finding meaningful friendships in people who are different from us.
The tale can be used to teach children the ability to look beyond appearances, developing strong friendship bonds, respecting differences, not underestimating others, and appreciate what appears unbelievable. It is a beautiful story. Simple, and charming. I am quite sure that there will be a version with more pictures available for younger children. If not, someone please illustrate it more.
