And this is where it ends. The last of the Twilight series, the vampire love story comes to an end. Unless Meyer ends up writing a sequel, since she does have forever to continue the story!
I must say I am quite glad that the series is over. I couldn’t wait for it to end! The last two hundred pages were slow poison! And I sincerely hope there is no sequel written. Having read the entire series in continuity over the past month or so, I have had my fill with mythical creatures. Even for the teenage, young-adult reader, the series is way too simple.
Specifically focussing on Breaking Dawn, Meyer had virtually nothing new to write once Bella finally turns into a vampire and her daughter is born. It’s just page after page of detailed description of things that are hardly relevant or interesting. At the end of the book, I remember the same names as I did after the first three books. Although there must have been at least a dozen characters introduced in this one book. It is in the last hundred pages that Meyer has suddenly realised that Jacob is actually not a werewolf and that she needs to be ‘correct’. Bella is suddenly a superhero. I mean, what is going on here!
The book is a mindless read. It is good if you are totally exhausted and you want to read without thinking and registering half of what you are reading. If you are a serious reader who is looking for something enriching, steer clear. If you are a casual reader, who likes to read popular writings, you can read this. If you are an occasional reader, who fears thick, fat, beautiful books, you can pick these up, as you would have a good chance of setting a record of finishing books beyond a hundred pages.
Every Book has a Story
When I finished the third book, I was so sure I need a break from vampires. Then I thought if I don’t finish this now, I was quite unlikely to pick it up later. And so, here I am. Proudly having finished a series that is so completely unlike what I like to read.
