The book is a collection of poetry by Piyush Mishra. I picked it up because it was on an eighty percent discount and because I wanted to read Mishra. I thought it will be a collection of his experiences and not poetry. I don’t read poetry much and have little patience for it. And thus, I didn’t enjoy this one as much as I would some other book.
Apart from my bias against poetry, I found Mishra’s writing inconsistent. There were portions that were remarkable but within the same piece, after the first twenty lines, the charm would wear off. Some of his ideas are brilliant but he is not able to carry them through for very long. His shorter poems are better. But he seems to like writing long ones. He also has a knack for twisting existing songs and plots and giving a different perspective to them.
In the whole book, I enjoyed reading the introduction the most. That says a lot. Presenting here, an extract that I really liked-
