I picked up this book because of its unique name and of course because I am in desperate need for decluttering. However, the book completely failed to inspire me, right from the start. I think the difficulty I faced was that I don’t think this is a book for messy people. It is one for people who have no sense of hygiene. Leaving clothes on the floor and not washing for a week isn’t a stage I have reached in life. And probably this book is meant for someone who prefers to live like that. I am messy because of lack of time more than anything else. And because I find it boring and less productive to clean mess. At the same time, I know that my productivity increases when I am in a clean set up. So it is a catch 22 situation for me. And the book did not help me step out of it. Furthermore, I have strong reservations against the kind of parenting rules that the author proposes. No judgment, but I found them somewhat disturbing.
If you know me personally, I think you would benefit from this book if you are messier than I am.
