Mahesh Bhatt with Suhrita Sengupta

I picked up this book looking at Mahesh Bhatt’s name and for all the months that I have had it, I was quite sure it was his biography. It was ten pages into the book that I realized it is not. Well, it was not a disappointing read. I was able to finish it in a couple of hours. It is gripping, which is exactly what I thought it would be when I had picked it up. I am not sure what Sengupta’s contribution in it has been. It has the characteristic storyline of a Bhatt’s creation- complex emotions, even more complex relations, everyone loves passionately, people fight for survival, and fight harder for success, and of course there is meaninglessness thrown in it all. In the end, it all seems believable, and somewhat disturbing.
The cover says it is soon to be a major motion picture. If it has already been made, then I am not aware of it. But it has the right masala for it. It is worth a read. The end is a bit abrupt. A major time leap and a complete turnaround for one man. It needn’t have been like this. Besides this, it was a good read.
