The story of this book revolves around student politics in the hinterland of Uttar Pradesh. The book seems like an accurate portrayal of the conversations, concerns and preoccupations of young adults in the town. The first few chapters were very engaging. There was a lot of humour and novelty in the writing style. However, I soon lost interest and felt that this book is not for me. But I pushed through the repetitive pattern of violence, politics, wooing women and ignoring studies in college altogether. After a while, the plot took a twist and picked up pace again. A lot of violence, kidnapping, sexual and physical assault and a few deaths later, the hero made peace with the world by getting his friend (the other hero) to win the elections. The book is written to be converted to a series or a film. I am just waiting for when. A decent read for people who like this genre. I think it is supposed to be realistic fiction. It is not a reality that I like. But well…
