i am writing this one coz i think i need to say this to one of my friends… relationships are hard to understand… not that he doesn’t know it already… but sometimes hearing it from someone else makes it sound better..
years back i got this email… and have been getting it almost every year now… friends come into your life for a reason, season or a lifetime… the theory i am here propounding says that everyone you’ve in your life is there for a reason… some reasons suit us, so we don’t mind even if they stay there for a life time… family for instance.. there are so many times when we hate them for who they are… yet they’re there for a reason.. to love us, pamper us in their own ways… just be there…so we don’t mind even if they’re there for this reason… and as we grow up, particularly when we’re away from our families, we try to find someone who can pamper us in the same way… many of us find such people in friends, lovers… we’re lucky… lucky to find people who would pamper us even when they don’t really have to… we don’t mind that they’re here for a reason… to pamper us…
then there are others… who come into our lives precisely for the same reason… to be pampered themselves… when they’re away from their families, friends… they need us… so that they don’t feel lonely… they don’t feel unloved… uncared… feel special…we don’t mind this reason either, till the time this reason no longer exists…
when the other person doesn’t need us any more… or not in the same way as he/she needed us earlier… we mind… it hurts… it’s got to… i was wondering if there were people who i’ve needed at a time and no longer need them… i can think of atleast one… i am thankful to him for being my friend… for being there when no one else was… i don’t know if i stopped needing him or he stopped needing me… but the moment has passed… and we walk our separate lives… and it’s not too tough… only makes me feel a little sad when people drift apart for no reason…. or maybe there is a reason… maybe we need to meet other people who need us or who we need… someone maybe waiting for us precisely now to stop fulfilling someone else’s need… maybe i should have titled this one ‘wandering souls…’
