This quick read was a reminder of my childhood days. One of the earliest memories I have of reading are of borrowing books from the library to read detective stories. The idea of a teenaged girl, solving mysteries was so enchanting. Nancy Drew was an inspiring character for me. I remember wondering if she would ever grow up or ever marry her long term boyfriend, Ned. This book took me back to my school days.
The story in this mystery revolves around finding a con man who has built a house filled with mysteries and surprises. The conman is clever and is able to get away without getting caught. The key features are the way Nancy and her friends get together to solve the mystery. I also find the book engaging in presenting a healthy family. Nancy’s father is supportive and even encouraging of her adventures and amateur detective work. Of course, there is eliticism of having adequate resources to travel and explore.
The language of the book is simple. It is most suitable for pre teens and teenagers. The story is suitable for all age groups and I enjoyed reading it. It is a simple read, with simple twists. If your children haven’t given the series a try yet, I strongly recommend them to give it a trt
