This book is the sixth in the Nancy Drew Diaries series. The book sees Nancy and her friends Bess and George taking a biking trip to a scenic lake. While the ride is physically tiring but enjoyable, a series of events unfold leading to the complete trip getting sabotaged. The book is fast paced and written to engage young readers. Children and early adolescents would enjoy the read. Sibling rivalry, pressure of academics, parental expectations and family support have been addressed well in the book. It is a gripping, one sitting read.
I sometimes feel that almost all of Nancy Drew books end at the culprit getting caught. There is never a mention of what happens to them. But maybe teenagers are not interested in it as much as adults are. I am also wondering how much of these stories are a depiction of life outside India. I would love to see young teenage girls going on independent biking and hiking trips in India. Waiting for that time…
