In this post I want to share the lovely resource bank that has been created on the website of Teachers of Bihar. The website provides a vast collection of resources that are useful for teachers. While the website also provides a section for students, but it’s primary target audience is teachers. The website links to other important website and online learning platforms. I particularly like the Book of the Month section. This includes books recommended for students and teachers separately.
What I found most engaging in the website and their e magazine is that the voices belong to the teachers. It is not floating in a rhetoric that is far removed from the field. While rhetoric has its own place, it is inspiring to read stories from the field. Things that teachers consider important to share, their experiences, experiments and engagements with children and schools. At several places, you will see photographs and videos of events and activities organised in schools.
There is a survey being run on the website and some insights from that were shared in the magazine that I read. Such resources are significant for inspiring teachers to work, in developing a shared understanding of what can and cannot work in the field, as also in learning from each other.
I am not aware if other states have similar collectives or what would have been the struggles in putting this resource bank together, but I think such collectives go a significant way in ahead in continuous professional development and learning of teachers.
